ABERTO DO MADEIRA
Every ball has a root.
From the Amazon to the world. The theme of the 19th edition links tennis and beach tennis to the forest through four real bridges: the sap, the sand, the rail and the river.
Porto Velho was born from a railway built to carry rubber to the world.
120 years later, what connects the Amazon to the world is sport.
The Amazon steps onto the court. And the tournament plays in its favor.
The final has a date: Sunday, September 5. Amazon Day.
Each bridge is one of the pillars approved for 2027: Sport, Nature, Connections and Beyond Borders.
The rubber that brings every rally to life comes from an Amazonian tree: the rubber tree.
The Madeira is a white-water river: it carries Andean sediment and, when the water drops, draws beaches. Sand is the floor of beach tennis.
Porto Velho was born from the Madeira-Mamoré railway, built to carry rubber to the world. That same year, the Rondon Commission began bringing the telegraph to the Madeira.
The river that carried rubber away now brings the world in: Aberto do Madeira awards ITF world ranking points on the banks of the Madeira.
Expected dates, subject to the ITF and CBT calendar.
